Biological agents being a threat to public health and safety are common. However, using these agents as weapons to intentionally cause harm or death has forcefully brought about a whole new era in dealing with these pathogens. Private business, government offices, postal facilities and others were targeted after September 11th with the disease causing anthrax virus in a deliberate attempt to spread the virus and contaminate countless innocent people. With this new threat from biological agents such as anthrax, small pox and other blood borne pathogens comes the need for an immediate response from trained and qualified personnel.

SWS has response teams specifically trained and equipped for deployment to biological threats and biohazardous incidents. SWS Bio-Technicians assigned to biohazardous incidents adhere to the Blood Borne Pathogen Control Protocol as defined by OSHA and detailed in SWS’ Corporate Health & Safety Program. The Technicians are fully trained in the use of Universal Protection Precautions during the performance of handling, packaging, transportation and disposal of bio-hazardous wastes, including proper disinfectant and sanitary procedures at the impacted areas.

SWS manages a wide variety of bio-response situations, including hospital/clinic spills, crime scenes, natural fatalities, post-fire investigations, abandoned materials, motor vehicle collisions, accidental releases and catastrophic anomalies. SWS also provides containment and clean-up of bio-hazardous releases, and can properly package, label, manifest and transport all waste materials to appropriately licensed disposal facilities.
