Position: Electric Utilities Safety
Specialist
Overview:
Develop, implement and manage Remediation Safety Programs compliant
with OSHA and client Health & Safety Programs and Procedures,
including goals, plans, and strategies for improving safety
performance.
A qualified candidate would be able to: • Perform
job site inspections and job observation of personnel and contractors
to ensure safe work practices are followed • Coordinate
with the Director of Health & Safety to ensure consistency
with safety procedures • Develop and maintain plant
safety procedures in accordance with SWS procedures •
Develop training and ensure compliance • Develop,
maintain and update emergency action plans • Establish
and manage a tracking system for identified safety deficiencies
and work with corporate safety to ensure that corrective action
is taken • Report safety performance to management
as needed • Develop lesson plans as needed and present
training material to employees • Provide subject
matter expertise and direction on health and safety best practices,
regulatory issues, interpretations of standards and codes, and
incident investigations • Serve as a member of and
collaborate with other safety representatives to improve performance
• Maintain professional affiliations with safety
organizations and other safety professionals in order to keep
current with state-of-the-art equipment, programs, and processes
designed to enhance organizational safety performance •
Participate in safety audits and see corrective action items
through to completion • Coordinate plant safety day
activities • Conduct required safety program reviews
and audits
Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the Health &
Safety field from an accredited university including H&S
Program implementation or Associate’s Degree or equivalent
in the Health & Safety field from a 2 year accredited
program or equivalent or minimum of 2 to 4 years of field
experience in the power plant or electric distribution/transmission
related field. Experience and working knowledge of office-related
programs (eg, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint). Must be able
to lift 50 pounds, maneuver in tight spots, and be comfortable
with working in high places and/or confined areas. Must be
adaptable to various work environments and conditions. Work
is split between office and project sites. Strong background
in industrial health & safety including a working knowledge
of OSHA regulations within the electric utility industry is
preferred. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to identify and deal with confidential information
accordingly. Sound interpersonal skills up and down the organization,
analytical skills and communication skills - both oral and
written. Ability to work productively in a team environment
with minimal direct supervision.

Job Description: Working member of emergency response
team for spills of oil, petroleum products, hazardous and
non-hazardous materials, industrial work, vacuum truck operations,
biohazardous clean-ups, etc. Due to the nature of the emergency
response, employee is expected be have flexibility in work
schedule including weekends and 24hr on call status. Overtime
is a regular occurence averaging 10-20 hours per week at times.
Requirements: CDL Class "B" , HazMat and
Tanker endorsements at a minimum is mandatory. Willingness
and ability to travel and the flexibility for long hours are
essential to the position. Proof of all certifications and
licenses is mandatory. Experience operating vacuum trucks,
industrial loaders, roll-off trucks and heavy equipment a
plus.

Specialist
Job Description: Working member of emergency response

Overview:
SWS is currently seeking an experienced Business Development Specialist focused on industrial and remediation services sales for the entire state of Alabama.
Job Description:
The Business Development Specialist is tasked with generating new business clients and developing existing business clients; managing the client account/relationship; drafting, developing and submitting proposals; maintaining CRM data for new and existing clients; attending industry-related conferences to identify and interface with prospective clients; execute and deliver sales volume goals; estimating a variety of project sizes.
This position will be focused primarily on the Decatur, Birmingham and Montgomery areas but will also branch out to developing markets in neighboring cities and throughout the state. Services sold will be attentive to the industrial services offered by SWS; tank cleaning, high pressure washing & hydroblasting, waste management including hazardous and non-hazardous waste, vacuum truck and air-moving services, vacuum excavation, plant maintenance services, health and safety training, etc., to clients in the chemical, manufacturing, petrochemical, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, pipeline, government, utility, pulp & paper, and transportation industries.
Requirements:
Applicant must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, procedures, nomenclature, and environmental regulations within the environmental services industry. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish established goals. Must possess strong communication, writing and computer skills, organization skills, have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel 50% of the work week. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in business, finance or marketing with 2-3 years of experience or non-degreed with 5 years experience is required. This position requires prior Business Development experience in Environmental Emergency Response, Environmental Remediation or Industrial Services.
